PETER 'SNAKEBITE' WRIGHT blasted this week: "I'm ready to give Scotland more venom!"
The wacky-haired star is based in Lowestoft but formerly lived in West Lothian and he represents Scotland through his grandparents. He has been one of the most improved PDC stars of 2011, leaping 20 places up the rankings to World No31.
Now Wright, 44 — whose wife Jo dyes his locks a different colour and gives him a new style for every match — reckons he can give Scotland a cutting edge for next February's World Cup in Holland.
He said: "I'm going all out to make it into the Scotland team.
"It will be tough. Gary Anderson obviously will be top man but then it's a fight between myself, Robert Thornton and John Henderson.
"I'm behind Robert in the rankings but I'm aiming to change that. I'm aiming for a wild card place in the Premier League.
"It's been a good year so far for me. I stopped playing league darts to try and be more professional and it has worked.
"I've got a set of Red Dragon darts that I've stayed with and I'm more consistent. Before this year I was swapping darts every other week and you just can't do that."
Despite the new "serious" approach, Wrighty won't be giving up the hair-raising hairdos.
During his win over Anderson back in July Wright had multi-coloured dreadlocks!
He added: "I don't see why I should change for anyone, it's my hair, it's just my thing.
"It makes people smile and it gives me an identity I guess. I don't know if it puts other players off or not and I don't really care.
"I firmly believe I can get a place in the Premier League.
"It would be great to change my hair colour for every venue for 14 weeks but it would cost my missus a fortune in hair dye. I'd probably have to get sponsored by Vidal Sassoon!
