Bookmakers are backing Phil Taylor to win a 10th World Grand Prix as the 2011 event gets underway in Dublin.
Taylor is darts' most decorated player, with 13 PDC World Championships, 12 PDC World Matchplay and five Premier League titles.'The Power' has also enjoyed great success in the World Grand Prix, losing just four of his 52 matches on his way to an incredible nine titles - his nearest challenger, James Wade, has won just two.
Last year, Taylor was knocked out in a thrilling contest with Adrian Lewis at the semi-final stage; the 51-year-old will now be looking for revenge as he bids to avoid a two-year drought in the competition.
Taylor has - unsurprisingly - been seeded first for the Grand Prix, meaning any potential clash with a seeded player would not happen until the quarter finals.
Mark Webster, Simon Whitlock and Gary Anderson would provide obstacles for Taylor on his way to the final, where he could meet last year's winner James Wade (no.3 seed) or last year's adversary Adrian Lewis (no.2 seed).
Bookmakers clearly think Taylor has the ability to dispose of these opponents, making him a clear 6/4 favourite for the title. Last year's winner James Wade is 13/2 with Sky Bet, while Adrian Lewis is 9/1.
Sky Bet darts trader Craig Ibbotson said: "It's hard to look past Phil Taylor picking up another trophy; the man shows little sign of slowing down.
"While Lewis, Wade and Anderson could all provide problems for 'The Power', he's been handed a favourable draw and should be in full flow by the quarter final stage."
