ANDY 'PIEMAN' SMITH and John Henderson are preparing for the BIGGEST clash in darts history.
The 20st arrows heavyweights are set to meet in the semi-finals of the PartyPoker.com World Grand Prix in Dublin. Both need to win tricky quarter-final ties tonight — Smith takes on defending champ James Wade and Henderson faces up to home favourite Brendan Dolan.
If both win through, the Dublin oche will need to withstand 40STONE in weight as the sport's most likeable and larger-than-life guys go head to head.
Englishman Smith admits: "We are due to play in the evening, so the pre-match meal will probably start at lunchtime. I reckon I can beat him in an eat-off!
"It will definitely be the biggest match of my life — on and off the oche."
Henderson, from Huntly, added: "I'm going to have to take defeat if it's all about the pre-match meal. I never eat much during the day of a match, it's a nerves thing.
"I'll have a breakfast and maybe a very light lunch but after that I won't eat a meal until after I've played.
"That's always my big problem, eating so late at night. The darts lifetstyle is difficult to control.
"I've no doubt Andy will beat me in the eating stakes but I don't care as long as I win on the oche."
World No62 Hendo has been a revelation as top Scot of the tournament, beating Justin Pipe and World No7 Wes Newton.
He knows facing home hope Dolan will be tough.
He added: "Brendan beat John Part so he'll be so confident. I just need to make sure I kill off legs quickly, that has been my problem all year."
Smith is relaxed about taking on defending champ Wade.
He added: "I'm not worried at all. I used to get wound up about big matches but not any more."
