Anderson looking for strong finish after disappointing run

GARY ANDERSON is set to hand over his Premier League crown tonight – but insists he can recapture his form and end 2012 in a blaze of glory.
The Scot goes into the penultimate round of matches needing a miracle to qualify for the play-offs at Wembley after a frustrating campaign.
Anderson needs to defeat Raymond van Barneveld and hope world champion Adrian Lewis slips up against Kevin Painter to stay alive in the competition.
It’s likely his reign as champ will end in Birmingham.
But the Borders ace reckons he’s getting his act together at last and that he can return to his best for massive autumn events such as the World MatchPlay in Blackpool.
Last week’s battling PL draw with Lewis promised better times and Anderson said: “It has been a struggle this season but it was nice to feel right again on stage last week because it has been a while.
“It’s unlikely I’ll qualify for the play-offs but I just want to finish the season strongly now.”
Barneveld is also unsure of his Wembley play-off place but the Dutch hero last night confirmed he’s heading to Scotland this month in aid of a good cause.
Barney will be in exhibition on Saturday May 19 at Grangemouth Town Hall in Aid of Scottish Autism Charity having also made an appearance in Arbroath the previous evening.
He will be joined by legend Bobby George and tickets are available from Davie Hanson at Scottish Darts Exhibitions Ltd on 07872 078715.
Barneveld said: “It’s always a pleasure to come to Scotland as the people are always great to me.”
