Grand Slam of Darts 2011

THE Grand Slam of Darts brings together 32 stars of the sport to compete over nine days at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The finalists from major tournaments qualify for the tournament, which will see darts' champion of champions crowned as Scott Waites defends the title.

Play initially sees the 32 players split into eight four-player groups for the round-robin stage, with the top two from each group progressing to the knockout stage.

Last year's event proved the most dramatic yet, with three-time champion Phil Taylor losing his title with a quarter-final defeat to Steve Beaton, home favourite Wayne Jones reaching the semi-finals and Scott Waites coming from 8-0 down to defeat James Wade in an amazing final.

This year's event will feature PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis, who hit a nine-darter in the final against Gary Anderson, the Scot who bounced back to win the Premier League Darts in May
