Richardson was far too hot for Raymond van Barneveld

VINDALOO-loving James Richardson was far too hot for Raymond van Barneveld  , knocking him out of the world championships.

In one of the biggest shocks in darts history, rookie Richardson crushed the five-times world champ 3-0 at the Alexandra Palace.
Nicknamed Ruthless, the world No 85 only qualified for the PDC circuit last January and has won just £8,600 in prize money.
But Richardson, from Northampton, lived up to his nickname with an incredible display of big scoring and clinical finishing — including two sensational 145 checkouts.
Stunned Barney switched his flights for the final set in a desperate attempt to halt the slide.
But Richardson recovered from two legs down to level up and then clinch victory with double 16, just seconds after the Dutchman had missed two darts to save his skin.
Richardson, who had the Ally Pally crowd rocking with rousing anthem Vindaloo as a walk-on, admitted: "I'm speechless, I really cannot believe I have just beaten Barney here.
"It's an absolute dream for me and now I'm going to celebrate with a curry and my favourite vindaloo with a pint of Guinness.
"I love curries and I want to enjoy this night with style.
"That's why my walk-on music is Vindaloo and I couldn't believe the crowd's reaction, they went wild and from that moment on I felt great.
"Everything I threw seemed to go in and anyone who has seen me play knows that if it's my night I can produce that sort of performance."
Richardson, whose odds were slashed from 1500-1 to 200-1 last night following the win, now faces Kim Huybrechts in the second round. He never gave toiling Barneveld a look-in.
There was no sign of the drama to follow as the Dutchman started well enough with 180 with his first three darts and wrapped up the opening leg with a classy 130 finish.
They swapped legs, but Richardson took out a sensational 145 finish to start Barney's wobble before taking the opening set.
Richardson, 37, then took the second set, breaking Barney again before wrapping it up in style with a Shanghai 120 checkout.
Barney won the next two legs, but Richardson fought back taking out another 145 finish.
The Dutchman blew two more darts to win the set — six in all — and Richardson sealed an historic win and sent the crowd wild.
Richardson added: "My son Joshua who is 13 is also playing now and he's joining the PDC next year on the circuit and he is some player.
"I was pointing to my family during the match, they were all here tonight — my wife Carolyn, Josh and my daughter Paige.
"This result is for them, for all the support they have given me. I'm going to treat them all to a curry.
"And I'll treat myself to an extra poppadum with my vindaloo!"
Barneveld's top 10 status in the PDC now looks over after a glorious stint at the top since he swapped from the BDO in 2007.
His place in the Premier League is also in jeopardy, the Dutchman now needs a wild card pick for the first time in his career.
